FIGURE 9. The target area, 1.8 m (6 ft) wide, is one-fourth the total width of the goal. It is marked by a goalpost on one side and a broomstick on the other. The zero-degree position is on a line perpendicular to the front of the goal. The ball to be kicked is always 13.7 m (45 ft) from the middle of the target, at intervals of 15° starting from 0° and ending at 90°.

Calculate the percentage of successful shots for each of the angles. How do they compare? What is your conclusion?

Unlike the fields in most sports, soccer fields vary in size. The field must always be rectangular. For six-year-old players, soccer fields are only about 27 m x 18 m (30 yds by 20 yds). That is not even 1/12th the size of a full-sized professional field.
